In effect the Supreme Court says the NFL must abide by State employment laws.

In the Williams's case Minnesota Law overides the NFL labor contract.

Sounds like the NFL thinks they trump State and Federal laws.
Oh, the arragance of it all!

I didn't read the entire article, but if the higher court refuses to hear a case, the lower court ruling stands. What was that ruling?

Well, that does not give much info about the original case. maybe you can bring us up to speed.
From what I know because( I think) a Saint was suspended and may have been part of this case . It seems certain over the counter drugs (cough, cold, weight loss etc ) are tabbed as steroid maskers or enhancers. So a Pro has to know about any thing and every thing that he ingests even if it is at the check out counter of the Walgreens.
It seems that the normal workplace and the NFL workplace playing fields are not level and why should they be.
There was a Saint player who also was dealing with a slight case asthma and was suspended for taking his meds.

The Supreme Court Refuses To Hear Vikings/Williams Drug Case

The ruling by the state court was that the Wlliams were not informed of the aledged drug infractions in accordance with Minnesota law, that the NFL was acting as the employer in a fact. Therefore the NFL must abide by the same laws as the Vikings would have had to. This severely deminishes Goodel's power. He will get no sympathy from the owners who are unhappy with him, especially about all the fines for non penalized legal hits. Expect some players to sue regarding right to work. In that case those fines will all have to be refunded. If Goodel wants to change the game then the owner's must approve revisions of the rules.

The Williams took a legal over the counter drug that the NFL knew contained a banned drug masking compund, yet did noy=t inform the players or the Player's Association.

Regarding the asthma meds, prednisone is one of the most common treatments and is about the most common steroid and is used for all kinds of things - including spider bites.
That is a tough call. You can't really ban a guy for taking needed meds but then again, like I said, prednisone is a steroid. What do you do?

A professional athlete is required to pay state income tax in every state he plays in, that has a state income tax. Each state considers that the athlete earned money in their state everytime they play in their state.

I wonder if owners could look in the most convenient state to discipline employees in?
