Some of you have seen me mention that I serve on the local School Board for K-12 students.?ÿ In Kansas, these Boards have seven members.?ÿ We had one resign a few months ago and voted on his replacement at last month's meeting.?ÿ Our newest member was in attendance Monday evening for our April meeting, which was her first meeting.?ÿ Less than 24 hours later a photo is posted on Facebook of her newborn daughter.?ÿ She told us Monday evening she was not due for another two weeks.?ÿ Surprise!
To the best of my (extensive) memory, she is the first member of our School Board to give birth while serving on the Board.?ÿ We have two other women on the current Board but one's youngest child is 16 and the other's twins graduated high school in 2022.?ÿ I would be hard pressed to name anyone, male or female, that has ever served on this School Board since its inception in 1967 who added a child to the family while serving on the Board.
