I went to the grocery store this morning.?ÿ My first drive in 2 weeks, so I was a little sloppy on the corners. I spent the most I can ever recall in one trip, as I usually go 2 or 3 times a week for fresh bananas and whatever else we need. Wife had gotten a few things last week, too.?ÿ The trip wasn't essential, but desirable for some fresh fruit, and a few staples getting short.?ÿ When you decide to stock up ahead of a crisis, you don't necessarily check on your supply of table salt and dishwasher detergent, for instance.

I figure the worst hasn't hit here yet, so want to keep using the opportunities to stay stocked.?ÿ Somewhere around half the confirmed cases in this county are from one nursing home, and no major employers reporting more than isolated cases, so it isn't widespread. The huge parking lot at my former employer was half-full so working from home is definitely being practiced where practical (as is my wife).

I had a cloth mask (with filter cut from a vacuum cleaner bag) and used gel before getting in the car.?ÿ Washed every washable item on getting home.

The store has "Senior hour" from 7 to 8 am.?ÿ I was about the 4th customer waiting in the car for them to open, and didn't see a lot of increase in traffic until I was close to done - only one checkout running and not busy, where this store routinely uses 6 or 8 at some hours. About half the customers and half the staff were using cloth masks.?ÿ They sanitize the conveyor after each customer.?ÿ No re-using sacks, in order to reduce that possible contamination. They have one-way arrows on the aisles to make it easier to stay separated from other people.?ÿ With the low customer density at that hour, the arrows were largely ignored, more so by the people not wearing masks.

The shelves were not close to being fully stocked.?ÿ Canned soup, cleaning, and paper products were low but not empty, and other areas adequate but not full. Fruit, vegetables, and meat were pretty well stocked. Pasta has recovered somewhat from the initial buying frenzy. Ground turkey was $0.99/lb, so we'll try some of that.

Any trip out is a risk, but I figure this one was pretty low risk.

Drove over 60 miles today but only interacted with one person along the journey.?ÿ What I thought of, though, was what would I do if I had a breakdown somewhere.?ÿ A truck and loaded livestock trailer is a bit different situation than a little bitty car I could shove off in the ditch by myself, if need be.

We have been getting our fresh air and exercise by walking. We walk 3+ miles daily, and do a 5 mile walk once a week. We walked 5 miles yesterday. Then I do my normal work out. While Wendell plays good ol' rock and roll on the TV thing.
Gotta keep in shape during all of this, otherwise the body turns to flab and mush. ?????ÿ

My cats...still being bum cats. Here's two of them practicing their own kind of self quarantine. ???Ÿ ƒ?‹? ?????ÿ
