What is it noadays with trying to download freeware?
It seems that almost no matter what one wants to download, every software has it's own proprietary, installation software that must(?) be downloaded, along with a miriad of offers that would download lots of other unwanted stuff.
It seems most often that unless one wants to accept all the extra stuff, eventually, one just ends up nowhere, even at times when the "installation", software has indicated that the software, was in fact, installed.
Not like the old days . . . at all.

It's not The Internet, it is proprietary software that you hate
try Linux instead... all free (and open to modify if you like)
