What a morning. Up had the coffee watched the wife and youngest finish some Christmas chores this morning. Then we all 3 headed to the farm so my youngest could take a peak at her new calf. Raining drizzling day. Well we checked all the cows, and calves I walked some fence lines to make sure everything was good before I head out of town for a week. 5 hrs to first job 70 acres to topo 7 ponds old school hydro. So smLl boat and rod. Then leave for a 7 hr drive to perform a boundary and research hoping to get it all done before Saturday. Well after the damp wet morning as we headed home around lunchtime the wife decided to fix us up some grilled cheese sandwiches. Oh my. Taste so good. I mean it has to be the weather right. Just certain things that one eats on days like this seem to create a spark in the old brain that the memories from childhood flashes as the tastes buds just become so different in that moment. Today that grilled cheese taste like a million dollars. Just flat out hit the spot.
Was drinking some hot cider one evening this week. It fogged up my glasses I had worn to the meeting. I believe that was a first for me. Can't remember the last time I drank a hot, steaming cup of anything. Must have been before I wore glasses for formal occasions.
Saturday my FFA daughter was riding the float her middle school FFA team put together for the small town parade. Great weather great people all around. I showed up just in time as I had chores to do and the wife was running the girls to and fro other events. Right where the wife set up the chairs was a small vendor. He had a 1950’s maybe earlier chevy set up for taps on the side. At this event no alcohol but hat chocolate and hot apple cider. Was pretty neat the way he had everything set up. I asked him what he charged to come to the hay fields and have ice cold wTer and gatorade on tap for me lol.
Speaking of glasses fogging up. This past week I had my cheaters on and was reading something as I had a London Broil in the oven . Timer went off I opened the oven door and instantly they fogged. For a split second I thought well this is it I am done. I could not see anything lol. But all went well and dinner was good.
