I can rationalize that its close enough to my 5:30 alarm to get out of bed. I know another nearby surveyor that has the same problem. I thought it might be environmental.

Then this morning at 3:00AM I received an email from a member of this forum who is in my same time zone but lives quite far away. I had actually been awake since 2:30, so I replied right away.

I'm just wondering how many other surveyors we have on this forum that wake up at such times of the night?

It's not as bad as it used to be. I take an ambien at around 8 pm to get to sleep by 10 pm.

Yeah. I've done the ambien thing. It works great until you run out. Although my scripts lasted quite a while because I was always afraid something would happen during the night and I wouldn't wake up.

Mine is for 3 months at a lick and when I get down to a week's worth, I call the doctor. She (the doctor) and I have an agreement. If I come in, once a year, whether I need to or not, she will write me 4 ambien scrips a year and 1 year long imitrix scrip so I'm pretty diligent in my doctor appointments. I wake up two to three times anyway with ambien. I literally may not sleep more than an hour a night without it and sometimes, days and after about 30+ hours without sleep, the human being condition turns into one who could be confused with a psychotic, and I'm no exception. 🙂

On a side note, my father can sleep anywhere anytime, but he gets chronic migraines. My mother has some of the worst sleep patterns, but regardless of how much she drinks, never has a hangover. So my sister and I, instead of getting the best of both worlds, got the worst. Neither of us sleep well at all and if we smell alcohol, it will trigger a migraine in both of us. Damn recessive genes! 🙂

I have found that when I'm having a dream where nothing can seem to get resolved I will discover my blood sugar has dropped to a very low level and needs a boost.

So last night I decided to look at the clock when my dog woke me up. It was 2:00
Now I'm curious if it's the same time every night.

It's funny - he stands there staring at me with his tail wagging....I remember telling him no several times...then I awoke to his head being softly placed on my chest..his tail wagging the whole time. Had to get up and let him out - happens the same way every night.

At lease he asks nicely.

Three old men are sitting on the porch of a retirement home. The first says, "Fellas, I got real problems. I'm seventy years old. Every morning at seven o'clock I get up and I try to urinate. All day long I try to urinate. They give me all kinds of medicine but nothing helps." The second old man says, "You think you have problems. I'm eighty years old. Every morning at eight o'clock I get up and try to move my bowels. I try all day long. They give me all kinds of stuff but nothing helps." Finally the third old man speaks up, "Fellas, I'm ninety years old. Every morning at seven o'clock sharp I urinate. Every morning at eight o'clock I move my bowels. Every morning at nine o'clock sharp I wake up."

Of all of my BIL's (11 total) I have liked 5. 2 I wouldn't trust as far as I could toss a rather large ship, 2 I wouldn't P*** on if they were on fire, 1 that finally came around to dealing properly with his daughter after he got terminal cancer and 1 I never met(got killed in an accident).

My last visit to the hospital I woke up with my leg kicking the crap out of the little rolling table. I was having a dream that I was in a fight, and winning, with somebody. Kinda weird. I'm not in 'terror', I'm really ticked off in my sleep because somebody is trying to kill me. Another time I was in the hospital, I put up a pretty good fight against the bed rails. The nurses must have heard me because when I woke up, there were three of them in there asking if I was alright. They called it a 'psychotic episode' if I remember correctly. I guess it stems from spending too much time in a war zone. Needless to say, I don't sleep in the same bed as my wife. I'm a nice guy when I'm awake. Just don't cross me in my dreams. 😉

I don't have it like you but if I have a dream I am fighting I can be dangerous. I nearly choked down my first wife once while dreaming by grabbing both sides of the bed with my arm across her throat. Have woken up totally pissed more than once. Hang in there. Most of the time it eventually gets better.
