Drove 260 miles round trip this afternoon/evening to sit in 102 F temperatures to watch my over-40 daughter play softball on a team primarily consisting of 20-somethings. They all are employed at the mental health/guidance center where she is a counselor. Considering the temperature, my comment was that everyone present, playing or watching, was in need of some mental health evaluation. Fortunately, her team is very good and in first place in their league so they run-ruled the other team after only four innings with a score of 18 to 1. The other fortunate thing is that they did not have a doubleheader scheduled as they have had several other times this season.

Aw c'mon. That's not silly...it's just something your journeyman "dad" union card says you're suppose to do!
But I do agree that was a ways to go just to watch a ball game...I can't do those butt-buster rides like I use to. I can remember deciding at noon on Friday to go visit all my kin in Colorado, and being back in town for work on Monday morning. I simply can't do those anymore, way too old and stiff.
