When I was in internet wilderness the past couple weeks, crying out for succor wherever I could find it, I stumbled across a forum for writers. This site has contributors ranging from a doctor who's writing a book about health care, to British professors of English composing sonnets, to 15 year old girls obsessed with vampires.
When I introduced myself and mentioned that the only other forum that I participated in was one devoted to Land Surveying, one of the members responded that she hoped they could be more entertaining than THAT.
I didn't reveal that I was currently banned from such a boring venue 🙂
Don
Am I talking too much?
Sorry.
Just a little buzzed and happy to be back.

She’ll never be much of a writer with such a parochial attitude.
Land surveyor deals with disputed boundary between doctor, vampire (no wooden stakes to be used), and family with teenage girls, using deed written in the form of a sonnet?
Don, what was the forum? Are you undertaking a literary work?
I'm Don Unsided there. Still looking around and learning. It's a huge, complex site with a lot of resources. It'll never replace Beer Leg, of course, but it's fun to explore.
No, I don't have anything serious in the works, just dabbling, although, thanks to your inspiration, my next legal will be in iambic pentameter. 🙂
Don
If you're dabbling with writing, you might want to look at the Education section of some of our local group's past newsletters.
http://noblepencr.org/
We try to include some useful information or link to good web sites in each edition.
Somehow, without trying, I became the moderator of the weekly meeting and editor of the newsletter. I think it had more to do with attendance than merit.
A group like ours or the forum you mentioned is the best way to try out some of your work on an audience that is a) relatively unbiased - don't ask your relatives for a critique and b) in the habit of thinking about what makes good writing.
One good rule of thumb for critiques is that if a person doesn't like something about your writing you should think about it but not feel like you have to change if you don't want to. If two people mention the same thing, you'd better think hard, and if more people say it you'd better believe it.
I will try to get more familiar with the forum you linked, and see if I want to recommend it to our local group as another resource.
Seriously thoughy?
I really did not miss you and some of the others at all.

Well, you know, I've noticed that hostility from you before. It never really bothered me though because I am perceptive enough to realize that it's your problem, not mine. Hope you get over it some day, but I don't really care.
Don
That looks great!
Thanks for the link, Bill.
I've bookmarked it to explore later.
Don
I'm way over it.
Hostility... are you trippin?'
[sarcasm]yes..... Don, you must be very perceptive[/sarcasm].
To be honest, I did not you were gone until you repatedly mentioned it in multiple posts.
I do completely ignore some of the P& R posts after being here for many years.
I have acquired an intuition of posts that are only manure tossing in the sandbox nature which maybe you like to participate .
welcome back anyway, maybe we need more geezers gushing here.
Well, that wasn't hostile at all, was it?
You are not "way over it," I'm afraid.
But you may be working on it 🙂
Hope so, for your sake
Don
