OK, so the Polaris 800 backfires. It is an EFI, And, now I hear an exhaust leak. A manifold bolt is missing. I can see the leak. It does it when I let the gas off. Real loud.

I finish my day, and go home.

I go to the hardware store, and get a new metric bolt, and tighten it up. Still leaks.

I take the manifold completely loose, and coat it with HIGH HEAT silicone, and the gasket too. I see the blown out portion of the exhaust gasket.

I evenly tighten it.

Now, no leak. No more backfiring.

I THOUGHT (old school) that the backfire, had led to the exhaust leak. NO.

The exhaust leak came FIRST, allowing oxygen in, and confusing the 02 sensor, and dumping gas into it, causing the backfire, making the leak worse, and blowing out a larger pc of the gasket.

So, repairing the exhaust leak, fixed it all.

Just intresting.

EFI is a funny creature.
