A 19 year old man's remote helicopter struck him on the head. TV reports say the scene is very gruesome.

This happened within the confines of a public park, where there are ball fields and other playgrounds. Although it is a "sanctioned area", it's not that far away from other use areas.
Just a few miles further east, the old Floyd Bennett Field (a former Naval Air Station, which can be seen as the spot where the planes that shot "King Kong" took off) has areas set aside for model aircraft "pilots".
Not saying it couldn't have happened anywhere, but as these models get larger and larger, better to keep the flying someplace a bit more remote.
