Got hit in the ear lobe by one of those damn things today, went to the local mom and pop drug store for some "sting-ez" or the sorts. They were out of anything. So one of the nice ladies there at the store told me to make a paste of water and meat tenderizer then put that on the sting. I believe it is working!
You can also use tobacco. Just moisten it and put on the sting. It will burn like heck for awhile, but it will draw the poison out. My Dad used to do that when I was little.

The pleasing odor of sting kill is half the point.

"That's not my culture and heritage, is that your culture and heritage?"
As has been said meat tenderizer and tobacco juice all work. They seem to draw out the stinging feeling.
I usually make up a baking soda paste which [to me] feels like it neutralizes it. All the different stuff likely works better or worse depending on what stings you. I've never been hit by a wasp of any sort.
I got hit by a black hornet once I was swearing I had been shot. It was on the soft meat in the back of my thigh so I couldn't really see for sure. I chewed up a cig at first and it did no good. My leg was on fire. My [then] wife said I hadn't been shot but clearly had been stung. I had her make up some baking soda paste and that took the burning feeling out of it. She (being the serious nature queen) had never heard of it and was amazed how fast the relief came. I still limped for a couple of days however but the burning feeling was gone.
