In the house!
OK, so that's Jobo and RADU logging in today. Hmm, who's left?
Just a joke. I don't endorse this site over the new RPLS necessarily, but I'm glad that there's apparently not any kind of feud going on (yet).
I was asked very early on and provided comments about content and told POB what I thought. Never anything to do with technical, just commented on what was presented on my browser. For the record both speed and accessing the latest threads were always my concerns as I saw that the sections were good for referencing post, but realized Pobbers would want to dive in from last viewed once familiar with site . I under stand that the techos are still working on that.
I think some Pobbers misinterpreted my comments, after some slammed the beta site after one or two visits. My comments were based around the premise that a corporate entity was providing us a communication vehicle for free and for that we should at the very least be grateful.
Actually I could see the RPLS site being technical and formal and this board the chat room.
RADU
The other site does seem a little slow, but I wouldn't call it dial-up slow. Either way, I'll visit both sites.
I would and did call it dial up slow. Here is why: I clicked a link, LPL's post last night after logging in. I got up, walked to the kitchen (next room) and got a Dr. Pepper. Came back and it was still on the welcome screen.
Maybe it has something to do with my having linux instead of windoze. But I have had very few sites that give me long delays (zynga being another one, but I think that has to do with flash). To me, if they want to have people use the site it should load fast. That is why I went to DSL almost a decade ago when it was still expensive and why I moved on to cable. I like my pages to load fast. I think the issue is they have it set up to load all to cache before coming up. That is great EXCEPT they have a lot of graphics and that takes a while to load. When it finally loads, it is all there, but you have to wait for it to fully load. They need it to do like the old board did and load part way while waiting for stuff to come in.
