Just received the post game notes, reprinted here in their entirety:

"Penn State-Ohio Post-Game Notes

- Penn State is now 92-20-2 in season openers and 100-13-1 in home openers overall. Penn State kicked off its 126th season of football Saturday.

- Ohio marked the first of 10 teams that played in a bowl game last year that are on Penn State’s schedule this season, a school record.

-QB Matt McGloin was 27 of 48 for 260 yards and two touchdowns, marking the eighth time in his career that he has thrown for at least 200 yards, moving him into a tie with Michael Robinson for ninth place in the Penn State annals. Just ahead of him, tied for seventh place are Todd Blackledge and Wally Richardson.

-McGloin’s 27 completions were a career-best. His previous high was 23 against Michigan State in 2010. His 48 attempts were also a career high besting the 43 attempts he had vs. Michigan State in 2010

-McGloin went 16 of 26 for 178 yards passing in the first half. The 26 pass attempts in a half were the most by a Nittany Lion quarterback since Zack Mills had 28 pass attempts in the second half against Purdue. The 16 completions in a half were the most since Daryll Clark had 17 in the first half of the 2009 season opener against Akron.

- RB Bill Belton scored his first career touchdown with a 6-yard reception at the end of the first quarter. He finished with 53 yards on 13 carries in his first career start.

-WR Allen Robinson led all Big Ten players on the opening weekend with his career-best nine catches for 97 yards, including a career-long 21 yard reception in the first quarter. It marked the most receptions for a Lion receiver since Derrick Williams had 10 vs. Purdue in 2007.

-WR Shawney Kersey had a career-best five receptions. His previous best was two last season at Indiana.

-WR Alex Kenney grabbed his first career catch in the first quarter, an 11-yard gain. He finished with two catches for 21 yards.

-TE Kyle Carter had his first career catch, a nine-yard grab, in the first quarter. Carter finished second on the team with six catches for 74 yards, the most receptions for a Lion tight end since Andrew Quarless posted eight in the 2010 Capital One Bowl vs. LSU.

- TE Matt Lehman’s first career catch was a 14-yard touchdown reception from Matt McGloin in the second quarter.

- Senior TB Derek Day posted career highs of eight carries and 36 yards rushing on the day.

-DB Adrian Amos had a career-best 10 tackles. His had previously had two tackles in a game five times, the last in the Ticket City Bowl against Houston.

- Several Lions who had previously seen action set career highs in tackles on the day including: Jacob Fagnano (9, previous high 2), Sean Stanley (tied his career high of 5), Stephen Obeng-Agyapong (5, previous high 3), Da Quan Jones (4, previous high 3), C.J. Olaniyan (3, previous high 1)

-LB Gerald Hodges logged 11 tackles on the day, marking the fifth time he had 10 tackles or more in game on his career.

-LB Michael Mauti had 12 tackles on the day, the fourth time that he had 10 tackles or more in a game on his career.

– Penn State’s starting linebacker unit combined to post 31 tackles: Michael Mauti (12), Gerald Hodges (11) and Glenn Carson (8

-LB Nyeem Wartman, a true freshman, blocked his first career punt in the second quarter, which led to Matt McGloin’s 14-yard touchdown pass to Matt Lehman.

-Seven Penn State players made their first career start on the day:

Offense: TB Bill Belton, LG Miles Dieffenbach, LT Donovan Smith, RG John Urschel

Defense: DE Deion Barnes, DT DaQuan Jones, Saf Stephen Obeng-Agyapong

-The following true freshmen played in their first game for Penn State:

TE Jesse James, WR Trevor Williams, LB Nyeem Wartman, DB Da’Quan Davis

- Approximately 200 Former Football players and 600 Penn State student-athletes, coaches and Deans from 11 of Penn State’s colleges joined the Blue Band to form the tunnel the football team ran through prior to kickoff. Senior All-Big Ten guards Tim Frazier and Alex Bentley from the men’s and women’s basketball teams led the team out of the tunnel carrying “One Team” flags.

-Penn State will take on Virginia in Charlottesville next Saturday at Noon. The game will be televised on ABC. The Nittany Lions lead the series 4-2 and the teams are meeting for the first time since 2002."

It all sounds like they had a very good game when you omit the fact of the final score.

And we think that only surveyors can make statistics sing.

10 out of 12 opponents played in bowl games last year. It is going to be a very long season.
