I just saw the peach pie post and thought I would share a recipe that I cooked yesterday. A coworker's wife gave me the recipe last summer and I've now cooked it twice. This one came out much better......I think it was because I let the peaches and sugar sit for a couple of hours before I assembled it.
I cut the amount of sugar a little and at the 1 hour mark I slid a sheet of aluminum foil on top, as it was getting pretty brown.
I had a phone conversation with my daughter (she's a pastry chef) and told her what I was cooking. She asked me about the recipe and after I told her she said, "We call that a "magic cobbler". It sure was "magic". 🙂
This is an easy recipe and man is it ever good. Of course, the fresh local peaches were the star. 😉
Sounds wonderful !
Thanks for the recipe :good:
I love peach cobbler!
When we go hunting or camping, we always take a Dutch Oven (a large cast iron pot with a lid) and make campfire peach cobbler.
All you need is a can of peach pie filling, a plain cake mix, butter, and milk .
Mix the cake batter up and pour into the Dutch Oven, slice up mthe butter and place in the batter, then pour the can of peach pie filling on top. Place the heavy lid on the Dutch Oven and place it into the coals of your campfire. The lid will have a ring around it so you can place coals on top.
30 minutes later you will have a great peach cobbler.
Here's what a magic peach cobbler looks like when it comes out of the oven. This is not the one that I fixed......I didn't think to take a photo before we started "poking" holes in it.
mmmmmmmm...yummy

Peach And Pear Cobbler
I substitute pears for some of the peaches.
Best made in a Dutch oven.

Peach And Pear Cobbler
My daughter got me a nice dutch oven for Christmas and I almost used it for the cobbler. I'll give that a try next time.
