ANGEL LIKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
MY BOYS WON!!! MY BOYS WON!!! ONE down, 3 to go. :hi5:
The official Cardinals Facebook page had a thread where they were asking people to share their Card stories. Well, I shared mine and out of hundreds of entries, it's the MOST liked!! How about that... 🙂
Gosh I wish I had the money...I would go to St. Louis just to hang outside the ballpark with a few thousand other screaming Cardinal fans.
Several of the last World Series were so one sided as to be boring. But this time we have two of the most evenly matched teams ever. This promises to be a very interesting and exciting World Series!! A real nail biter. I think it will run all the way out and we won't know the winner until after the 9th inning of the seventh game!! Anyway, GO CARDINALS!!
Smart man!!!

I agree, CPT!!! As much as I would LIKE to see my boys sweep it up, I also want to see a good 7 game series played!! I like the Rangers too, and that's who I'd be rooting for IF my beloved boys were not in the series.
Check this out...apparently my big Cardinal mouth had my friend going and she made this for me and Wendell!! 😀

If any of you guys are interested I could post my story that's the most liked on the official Cardinals Facebook thread. I just didn't want to bore everyone out of their minds. hehehe 🙂
Smart man!!!

I am, would you email it to me or provide a link to it?
Say hey to Wendell, Miranda, and all the critters! 🙂
My "Infamous" Cardinal Story... ?
It's buried in 100's of stories! I had to go find it...I'll just post it here so you don't have to go digging. 🙂
> <--- Cards fan since I was 11 years old, thanks to me getting "Left Behind"... Here's my story...
On a hot summer day in 1982, my uncle bought baseball game tickets to a Dodger game and said "line up!" All of us kids and adults got in line and when it came my turn to get a ticket, I got LEFT OUT. "Angel, you cant go. It's BOYS baseball day out only. Sorry!" Then they all piled in the van and drove off!!
I was crying and I was so hurt!! I moped into the house and I told myself "Ok, I'm turning on the TV and whoever the Dodgers are playing at this game that they went too, that is going to be MY team." Well, fate had it that it was this really cool "playful" team with red birds on their uniforms!!! And the best part...was watching this one player run out and do backflips!!! I, right then and there, made him my most favorite ball player, EVER. (Still is to this day!!)
As I got older, I was finally able to drive myself to watch my beloved Cardinals whenever they came to LA. For years I would wait outside their visitor dugout, hoping for autographs, handshakes, a hug, but mostly, to meet my favorite player. I got a lot of autographs and other stuff from the other players, but Ozzie NEVER would come out with the rest of the boys. *sigh*
One day, I ran into Ozzie several years later after a game at Dodger Stadium. There I was again, waiting by the dugout for my no-show Ozzie. I could see the LA Freeway, jam packed, so I figured I'd just hang around the ball park until it cleared. The parking lot was EMPTY sans me. I decided to mosey up to the front of the entrance when I see this black man carrying 2 little kids pop out of the entrance and start walking real fast to a nearby waiting car. I immediately knew who it was and about peed my pants, running up to him, jumping up and down like a crazy teenaged girl, begging for an autograph, telling him I waited years and years, and I have little statues of him at home! Ozzie ignored me at first but then when he heard my statue comment, he stopped, started giggling and laughing, and signed ALL of my cards AND shook my hand AND said thank you!!! THAT MADE MY ENTIRE LOYALTY towards my Cards all worth it. ???
My childhood and now adulthood dream is to one day be able to get to Busch Stadium to watch my "boys" as they play a home game. I want to be around other fans that love this team just as much as I do!!!! Someday...it will be "in the Cards." ???
(Sidenote: My favorite cousin, the same age as me and who DID get to go to that "Boys only" ball game, well, his favorite team is the Dodgers. We love to tease each other about our "Rivalry". ?)
My "Infamous" Cardinal Story... ?
That is a wonderful story, angel.
I hope you get to see the Cardinals at home one day.
My brother has a story about Mickey Mantle.
I was brought up in a NYY household. My dad admired Lou Gehrig as a kid.
I am a NYY fan through thick and thin but my brother isn't. He hates them.
When he was a lil kid, my dad took him to the Bronx to see the yanks play.
After the game, he was hanging out to get MM autograph. He saw MM getting into a car and ran up and tried to get his attention and MM turned around and spit on him. From that day on he hated the Yannkees and MM.
The irony to the story is that my brother and MM shared the same birthday which is today.
Today, my brother lives in Lakeland (Tiger's spring training site) and is a Detroit Tiger fan. I am sure that he enjoyed the Tigers knocking out the NYY this year.
The hardest ball that I ever seen hit for a HR in person was by Stan Musial in an all star game at Yankee Stadium. It made my jaw drop as a kid. It was a rising curving line drive deep into the right center mezzanine. The report of the ball off the bat could be heard probably in Jersey.
My "Infamous" Cardinal Story... ?
Me too, Robert!! I will be so overwhelmed with emotion and in tears when I finally get to go...Good tears tho!! 🙂
Wow...Mickey turned out to be a jerk!! How dare he spit on a little kid!! Terrible. I am glad Ozzie did not do that to me!! 😛
My mom is a DIE HARD NYY fan, being born and raised in NY. Also part of the reason why I am NOT a Yank fan. She ribs me all the time about my team "sucking" and her team being the best. I just say "yeah, who's team is in the WORLD SERIES, mom??? and WHOS team got their asses handed to them by some Tigers, Mom?" She just sneers. hehehe it's great!! 🙂
Stan Musial...One of the most beloved Cardinals, ever. And a nice man off the field as well, from what I heard.

Hey Angel (aka: angle),
That was a wonderful story. Thanks for posting. I feel sorry for you that your Uncle excluded you. Obviously it is something that is permanently etched in your memory. There is nothing in the world that distresses me more than to see a young girl cry. Probably that’s why I spoiled my Daughter (big time) but I don’t regret it for one second.!!!
Say hey to the Harness clan and have a great weekend! 🙂

Eh...my uncle was a jerk!! He always did crap to make me cry... 🙁 Hopefully, wherever he is, he remembers who stood by his side when he laid in the hospital suffering and died. :-$
I have always tried to turn something bad into something good and that day I got dissed turned into a WONDERFUL lifetime love of a great ball team.
I'll hug Wendell for ya and I'll slap the kid. 😀

My "Infamous" Cardinal Story... ?
Good story, Angel. And that's loyalty...
I was born and raised a Dodger fan, listening to Vin Scully on the transistor radio at night before going to sleep even when I was a little kid. But I lived in San Diego for many years, and even though I never became a Padre fan, we went to a few games a year. And, of course, Ozzie was a star from early in his career.
I remember that everyone was disappointed when he was traded to St. Louis for Garry Templeton. Now, Templeton was a really good shortstop, and a better hitter than Oz at the time, but there's only one Ozzie Smith, right?
Ozzie Smith...& My Vintage Cardinals Photo!
Thanks, Brad. It's the Virgo in me, I'm EXTREMELY loyal to my team, spouse, friends, etc... 🙂
I'll post a pic of me from 1992 with my vintage Cardinal shirt on. This was when Wendell and I first started dating...I broke him in easy. hahaha!!
Ozzie...is just freaking awesome IMHO. HE made the games fun to watch even for people that weren't really into watching baseball (like my husband!). Those back flips are classic!! I have an old VHS tape of Cardinal highlights from that season with Ozzie jumping about before each home game. I need to transfer it to DVD sometime so I can re-live the memories. 🙂
Pic below with my Card shirt on...I was 21!!!
Game Two...NAIL BITER!! Good Job, Texas!!
WOW what a game!! :-O Both teams played some AWESOME ball!! Never give up!!! Usually I am VERY devastated when my boys lose, but...in this case, because it's the Rangers, I'm OK. 🙂
Game Two...NAIL BITER!! Good Job, Texas!!
Now I see the "pattern of the Series"! These teams are so evenly matched that each will win every other game. Thus St. Louis having won the first game will win the series 4 to 3. Hide and watch!! I have made my prediction. I seldom miss. (But then, I do work with surveyors? Something ain't right here!!)

Very good game, with the momentum shifting. Your Cards better stay on their toes =).
On a side note, What a past 12 mos for the North Texas area. 2 World Series, a Super Bowl and an NBA Finals all within 20 miles of my house. It is a great time to be a sports fan here.

Here's that photo finally, guys!!! "The Rivals". (See story in previous post)
This is my "twin" cousin Mike in his *gasp* Dodgers shirt, and me in my WONDERFUL beautiful Cardinal shirt. 😀
