It seems to me, that at least one of the tripods we have used, was painted olive drab. And, that the wrinkle coat of at least one transit was of WW2 vintage.
It seems to me that many learned to survey in the military, under a drill instructor. And, brought the manners of a DI into the civilian world. Some of these mentors, were reliving their past, while screaming at some poor trainee.
Say, have you ever heard the colorful language of a veteran, while he screamed at you? I have.
It's part of where we came from. WW1, and WW-2 wrote on many a soul, in the world. Many of the tools we have used for years, came from the industrial military complex. T-2's in their green bullet cases.
I always pay my respects to Viet Nam vets, and Korea Vets, and, of course to WW2 vets. But, some of them have lived things, we don't think about much.
Thanks to Jerry Penry, for sharing his photos in this thread: https://surveyorconnect.com/index.php?mode=thread&id=259975
It sure brought back images, of what some folks lived, who screamed at me, as a trainee.
