Ohio State wanted a home game in 2011, Colorado had an opening and could use the money for it's Big 12 bailout. Typical Ohio State payout for a single game is $450-700,000. Don't worry about Ohio State's pocket book, single home game gate receipts exceed $5,000,000, plus Big 10 TV revenue.
I guess Boise State did not have an open date.

Boise State's pay-out for the Virginia Tech game at Fed-Ex Field in DC is reportedly 1.25 million.
