I have been developing this ascender/descender rope climbing device, which is being field tested by an arborist friend in CA.
I did a static load test (and a shock load test) and the device grips on a 1/2" rope tenaciously as shown in the video here.
see my other video entitled "OAR rope ascender/descender" to see this latest compact model being shown in use.
