Went to the Eastern Shore of Virginia to visit with my wife's sister and husband. This is probably 1/10th of his collection.

Some of these are from the early 20's. He also carves.

The Shore can relax anyone. This is from his back yard.

Peter, I'd think one would have to conclude that one of those husbands was a decoy husband.

He's got quite the collection of nice carved ducks. I have my guest bathroom decorated with ducks and wolves. Nice man bathroom.

But I've got two of those ducks where the eyes look like they following you all the time. Kinda freaky at times.

If you get the chance, head a little further north to Maryland's eastern shore and visit the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art in Salisbury.

Beautiful. I have two of my great grandfather's wooden decoys he used on the Cedar River in Iowa in the early 1900's, when it was part of a large migratory route. I've been told by relatives the ducks are coming back on a small scale, sometime during the 1960's they changed their route south, and stopped coming to that area altogether.
