I'm trying to shrink down my title block and legend.

My current one takes up 4 inches all the way across the bottom. This includes the signature area.

If it wasn't for my logo, which I've been using to long to throw it out now, I'd probably have less trouble. I used to have it in the lefthand corner of my plats but then my legend was where ever I could find a spot and it was huge. I scaled it down quit a bit by using smaller text.

Here are a few I made up. I can't decide which one to use. Heck I might scrap 'em all, for all I know. 😉

I made links because of the size.

The first set; On the right side I tried to make it look like a cap and rebar driven down through the title block. I'm not sold on it though and the more I look at it the less I seem to like it. The second set is simplified. I'm not sold on getting away from my traditional logo and going with the new one (kinda 3d affect) I am drawing it up in photoshop. I kinda like it though.

They aren't done and I'm not sold on 'field team' over the traditional 'field crew' thought it might make future employees feel more mushy or something about the company.:-D

John,

I personally like the last link (3d2). The ornate curves over the legend and the pseudo-cap-on-rod will be lost on 99.9% of people, even surveyors.

I'm no expert, so you get what you pay for. I like the simplest forms the best. I guess I worked around the government too much in the past to have much appreciation for "fluff".

Question: Is the District/County/State really necessary?

HC: In VA it is a requirement on the plat. I think in WV even the watershed is required. How could you ID where the property is otherwise? Just by route numbers? or Lat/Long? or SPC's?

The more I look at the 'cap' one the less I like it. My daughter and I brain stormed over what to do with the top of the information block. We didn't come up with anything so I did that. I put her name in drawn by, boy was she going on abou how she drew it and here name was there to prove it.

At one point I had a transit scope, my name centered, but it looked just as much like a cannon as a transit scope.

I like the more simple design too. I'm still going to tweak it some I think before I start using it.

Still on the fence between old logo and 3d logo. That will be a tough call.

Holy Cow, we do have to put district, county and state. I suppose we could get by without the state but it's been done like that for so long....

District and county in WV is like range and township in PLSS. It's how we find the property along with watershed. I put the watershed info up top just below the clients names.

I used to have a 'Prepared For' area down in the title block but since I have to put type of survey and watershed and all that I figured I'd just start putting up top with all that stuff.

I see. I thought that info was "standard" for your base of operations. Now, I see this is referencing the location of the specific project. My mistake.
