Ancient man made some very beautiful works.?ÿ In 2019 I went to an exhibition in Saint Louis of artifacts from Pompeii and was struck by their intricate and beautifully crafted hand work of even tiny objects.?ÿ ?ÿThe video below talks of "chalk drums", I notice the 3 holes in the top which they did not speculate about, but am curious about their purpose.

Someone's speculation:

Three holes in the drum are thought to mark the presence of the three bodies in the grave.

My guess is that the objects were used by the children as some sort of favorite toy or game.

My initial guess was the cylinders were toys that resembled wood and skin drums used by adults, so the kids could participate without making enough noise to disrupt things.

However, if that were the case there should have been some less-pristine ones found in locations other than graves.

Yes, my initial though was that the drum was a stand for candles, but there seems to be no residue'
