I need opinions on this pipe....I found it 31'N and 14'W of my calc position of a 40 acre corner...two surveyors our holding it. I took a pick a few days ago of the "2 IP" as described. After thinking about it for a few days I think it is a sign post for the railroad. The railroad tracks were removed around 1940.
I have a pic but can't post it...can I email it to someone that will post it for me?
After the pic gets posted I want to know if you think it is a sign or survey marker...the hole in the top was what led me to my sign theory.
Thanks for the help!!!
got it! is this a survey pipe or sign post? Thanks for the help!!!
[sarcasm]is that flagging? it must be a survey marker...[/sarcasm]
I Would Say A RR Sign Post
It is rather short and certain RR signs are set low along the roadbed, usualy those between tracks.
I would dig to see if there is a switch throw beneath it.
