I had 2 T1A,s,one had an inverted image,I sold it to the survey repair shop and he sliced it down the middle with a bandsaw to put on display, I dont know which way he cut it.
I use the T1a for star gazing, it works perfectly, same as the day I bought it, the bearings are so smooth, it just spins like the old tuning knob on a kenwood stereo from the seventies.
On a large project in Brisbane before I went to China, I used a T2 from my company to do basic floor tile layout on a multi storey building, internal work only, with the battery illuminator attachment, it did the trick and all were happy.

The other is not a survey tool,but they go hand in hand for some,I myself do not drink.
