LOL! Does the area I live in look like Louisiana? The short answer would be yes (at least the Northern part of your state).

🙂

Jeremy

Evidently, you didn't read the last sentence of the banner. Dead men tell no tales, or truths either. 🙂

East Texas Culture

Kris, thanks for this glimpse of East Texas culture. Would you say that things are getting worse there or only just as bad as they've ever been? I mean Leroy just added the element of premeditation to his future actions, so ice chests have to be a really, really big deal there, huh?

Well, Leroy may have been storing the meth in the coolers, its just to early to tell at this point. This culture you speak of is deeply rooted in east Texas and some are more than proud to display badges such as this (and others such as redneck, oilfield trash et al) with honor.

It may have to do with the copious amounts of drugs or the inbreeding from several generations, its just not clear at this moment as there are just too many factors to consider. What is clear is that this picture was taken about ten miles east of me in a small town called reklaw, which up until a few months ago was only known for the towns name being walker spelled backwards.

Now,with the triple homicide, multiple drug busts and an emerging gang known as bwg (backwoods gangsters), watts and Compton are safer destinations.

While this post may be funny, its laced with truths, half truths, and outright lies. It is up to you to figure out which is which.

I couldn't have said it better myself, Kris. Well, probably not, anyway.

You've raised an interesting point, though. Should "East Texas" be written as "Saxet", intead?

I read the sign as a sincere message to an absconder that apparently is an immigrant from other parts and accustomed to five finger discounts.

A common problem everywhere these days with the only difference being the punishment dished out.

Is the real problem in Saxet that ice is in very short supply and there are ice theft rings, or is it that ice CHESTS are? Obviously one or the other must be very valuable there, although not valuable enough for the owner to actually take them out of the back of his truck.

I'm thinking that, as Kris suggests, there probably is a meth lab involved in this in some way, it being in Western Louisiana, or Saxet, as it is.

Yes, you are partially correct. As I'm sure you're aware from the antecedent writings, that some people in this little area seem to be moving in the opposite direction as you would have hoped for them; however, take heart. We at the ETWL (East Texas West Louisiana) Society have just started a new ad campaign for this holiday season promoting the "forward thinking" that the ETWL should soon be known for.

Due however, to low funds, this may be a bit slow to start. In fact, we've had to eject a few charter members for wanting to raise funds in ways that were less desirable than our mission statement, such as stealing ice chests and reselling them. Don't worry, the ETWL has the highest of integrity and standards though.

Soon, we hope to have a joint meeting with our sister society CTNM (Central Texas Northern Mexico) for some ideas and a brainstorming session. As I'm sure you're aware, that chapter has been active for 30 plus years with excellent activities like the famous Mexican/Czech dance off, the Texas Famous BBQ Mexican Food contest (this is actually a three day event that pulls people from all 50 states) and other activities making the CTNM chapter one of the more active. Soon, we hope to be better than WTNM (West Texas New Mexico) and NTSO (North Texas South Oklahoma) with our membership attendances.

I think we all can agree that the stepchild of Texas is the PHSCWO (Pan Handle Southern Colorado Western Oklahoma) chapter. No one likes these people. Their faces are always cracked and dried and look wind burnt. The South Texas chapter has disappeared as no one can tell the customs or members from that of Colombian Drug Cartels.

See you at the next meeting Kent. Evidently, someone has booked surveyors such as Ken Gold and Darrel Shine to make presentations on the old local customs in Texas with which we could revive and have as destinations. Obviously, they would have to be along a river somewhere though.

🙂
