Hors-douvres started at 4PM for the 7PM Penn State - Alabama game. Our nephew has the Big Ten Network so we have plenty to watch, between the salsa, buffalo dip, shrimp, wine and 3 flavors of Yeungling. We settle into the Michigan - Notre Dame game. Now if you are a Penn State fan you have to hate Michigan, but when it comes to Notre Dame you have to back your home league. A whole roomfull of Michigan rooters, and the next door neighbor supporting ND. What can you say she brought the shrimp. During the second half our nephew comments that it is raining in South Bend. Michigan goes into a prevent defense and ND works against it to catch up. Finally Michigan pins ND on their own 5 yard line and the room cheers, the game is finally wrapped up. Before the snap the camera pans over to show a rainbow over South Bend and the neghbors shouts out, "Did you see that, a rainbow, it is a sign." Almost in unison we shout back we don't need that now. Darn if the leprecahn does not offer up a pot of gold, a 95 yard pass and run to put Notre Dame ahead 24-21. The mood is fowl and the neighbor steps outside. It was already past Penn State kickoff time but my nephew says we ain't leaving the until it is over. The neighbor comes back in from a quick trip home and announces the Penn State kickoff is delayed 15 minutes. Agony slowly decreases as the room realizes that the Wolverines are eating up the leprecahn and send it home with 27 seconds to go. Notre Dame finishes itself off with the lamest Hail Mary pass we've ever seen.

Alabama then proceeds to put together running drives that in a two weeks are going to show the SEC football like they have never seen before. This should be the strongest repeat ever seen and the Heisman choice will be between Alabama players. Then we had to listen to lame announcers state that it has been a long time since Penn State played and SEC team. I guess beating LSU in the Orange Bowl 8 months ago doesn't count.

Anway, we had some awesome chili at halftime, and trust me the tears were from the halepenjos and not the score.

But that rainbow, was just divine interference, and no penalty flag thrown.
