No. 7 Pittsburg State (Pittsburg, Kansas) rode the wave of a 28-point second quarter to a 49-23 victory over No. 8 Delta State Saturday (Dec. 10) to advance to the 2011 NCAA Division II National Championship. The Gorillas will meet Wayne (Mich.) State in the title game on Dec. 17 at Florence, Ala.
They won it all in 1991, 1961 and 1957. They have been in the National Championship game several other times, most recently in 2004.
What a horrible burden this must place on the student athletes who are forced to play extra games to determine a true champion without having to rely on rigged coaches polls and computer rankings.
Imagine the audacity of actually having a fair playoff system.
My God man, what is next?
Paying players from all the money that schools make by selling replicas of the athletes game jerseys and the multi-million dollar TV contracts?
