Ever since Porsche introduced the Cayman I have been quite fond of it and find myself cruising the Porsche site and "building" my own and suffice it to say I am definitely Jones'ing for one in a nice pretty teal color, or maybe a bright yeller one.
Maybe someday I will learn I had a unknown rich uncle who bequeathed me his estate and I will buy one.?ÿ
Until then it is a Nissan for me.
I do the same thing with motorcycles...it's weird, I couldn't care less about cars. My daily driver is a beat-up Subaru.
The nice thing about motorbikes is that I can actually afford them from time to time - just usually don't spring for it because I have a perfectly serviceable one (nearly 20 years old too - Hondas are sometimes too reliable) and the new models are even more insane than my current old-ish ride, so I would probably get my license yanked pretty quick.
I have been drooling over the new Aprilia RS660...it's about perfect size/power/weight and has all the fancy electronics that never show up on midsize models.
Then again, it is an Italian bike, and the usual maintenance and supply line nightmares that come with owning one in the US will probably be even worse after Covid. Sigh...I was all set to visit a dealer and likely pull the trigger on a new one this summer, but I'm not willing to gamble on that.
I used to do that with the big dual sport BMW RS motorcycles and occasionally with the sport touring genre but since I had hip surgery and back surgery I can't bring myself to throw a leg over a motorcycle., Maybe some day but unlikely. The sad part is that I love riding but I have just lost the desire since those surgeries.?ÿ
Now it is cars. I have looked at all of them and find myself looking at the Maserati site on occasion but I could never afford one of those but I can dream.
But I keep coming back to that Cayman.
This is SWMBO's, year old 2300 miles.
@flga
2300 miles......that's all!
2300 miles......that's all!
Probably at an average speed of 30 mph, as bad as he's described the traffic in the area.
34.2 avg/spd according to car. I can guarantee it goes much faster. ????
@flga
Eh, that's not bad. My most recent move put me within two miles of the office (not that I'm going there right now except to pick up large plots). So when I do ride the motorcycle in to the office, I get it up to a maximum of 35 mph for all of ~30 seconds on the commute...on a bike that will easily do 150-160. Granted, it's not as fast as a Cayman but I would say it's at least as much of an adrenaline rush 😛
I am actually overhauling the mountain bicycle which will serve as my main commuter whenever this Covid craziness ends.
