This appears to be a real railroad-recognized spot.
Nowhere, KS was originally a stop on the Leavenworth, Lawrence and Fort Gibson railroad, and today the?ÿMidland Railway?ÿruns on these tracks. As far as I can tell, this is all that's left of the town. So this is a literal picture of "the middle of nowhere". Location is on Montana Road just south of Woodson Road, in Franklin County, Kansas.
