I was working on a survey last week and came across this tree. It is a cell phone pic, so the quality isn't the highest.
The tree has fallen over. It was about a 14 inch diameter tree. The root system was exposed and you could see that the root "ball" was actually a root panel. The rock ledge seen at the bottom of the picture did not allow for much depth to the root system.
It sure is amazing where a tree can get a toe-hold and grow.

If that had been a banyan tree, it couldn't have been tipped over.
I have a sculpture about 3' tall that came from some tree root out of Jamaica.
Can't remember the name of the tree. It starts with "l" is all I remember.
