Took Mrs. Cow to the 1:30 showing of Hunger Games at the local theatre. She is nearly through reading the third book in the series. I knew almost nothing about the storyline prior to going.

Interesting movie despite being 142 minutes long. Those people living in the Capitol District need some serious style and color-selection help. Especially with their hair and beards.

While watching the credits roll we noticed the name "Walrus J.U.I.C.E. Howard" appear as one of the electrical crew workers. Actually, I think it said Walrus "Waterboarder" Howard or something like that. The first name listed above is from the credits listing from IMDB's information for this movie.

The outdoor footage in the movie was shot in North Carolina. BTW, do not read the parental warnings in IMDB before going to the movie as they list most of what happens under Violence.

My elder, 13 yo, daughter has read the books and was besides herself with joy as we walked into the theater Sunday morning, as was our 12 yo daughter. All four of us enjoyed ourselves, even the youngest, who is a bit squeamish. She cried when the little girl Roo died and looked away during some of the more violent scenes, but she enjoyed the movie.
I enjoy movies with strong female leads, but I do have two daughters.

I give it 9 out of 10 stars.
