I wonder how many folks know that Cinco de Mayo is a celebration in the US of Mexican culture on the date of a Mexican victory over the French - not Mexican Independence Day.

Well, I did. A far smaller force expelled and destroyed a much large French force who was over confident and cocky.

Well, I learned something....

I thought it would be a redneck shootout, at a Hellman's Real Mayonaise jar, as it floated in the gulf of Mexico!

(Happy Cinco de Mayo day to you Dan Mcabe!)

I just got my computer working again.

Gads, I am amazed at the hackers and bad software writers out there, that make viruses and other poorly written stuff, that locks it all up.

Nate

I thought it was just a day to put on sombreros and chase corona's with cuervo.

Spare me the details...I just like tacos and margaritas. So therefore, in honor of today being Cinco de Mayo, I will change my last name to Miltonez for the remainder of the day.

Ole!

Mexican Independence from Spain

Is celebrated on September 27. It was on that date in 1821 that Coronel Agustín de Iturbide led "Army of the Three Guarantees", named after three guarantees outlined in the "Plan de Iguala".

If you read Mexico's history from the late 1700's forward to 1916, you see why the Mexican government wants to keep the vast majority of its people unarmed and vulnerable. They have a habit of picking up arms and changing governments.

In over 200 years they still haven't gotten it right once.

At the current growth rate of the Hispanic population, our decendents will all be celebrating Cinco de Mayo here in El Norte Mexicali.
