Where's the one about the rise of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team??? 😉 😛 😀
This is something I will definitely watch. I became that rarity-- an American cricket fan, while working and traveling in East Africa, Australia and New Zealand back in the '80s. It's a civilized game (tea breaks in between innings!) and a pretty fascinating game to watch, once one gets a handle on the rules and acquires the necessary patience to watch it play out. Later (in 1990) while working in Trinidad I was lucky enough to be in the crowd at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain to watch the West Indian "national" team versus a Trinidadian All-Star side.
What a beautiful setting. Tropical breezes, vendors selling good cold Carib beer, roti and "doubles", and up in the cheap seats where I was sitting among the Rastas, there was also some fragrant smoke wafting in that breeze.
Best thing was that I got to watch Gordon Greenidge, Viv Richards and Brian Lara (among others) all on the same pitch. Brian Lara played for the Trini All-Stars in that match. As I recall he hit for the century (100+ runs). My mind might have been foggy at the time, so I don't remember all the details, but nevertheless it was a day of cricket history, and one of the best days off from work that I've ever had.
You never see any cricket news on USA media, but thanks to the inter-pipes, I still follow the sport.
