Hey all,
Me and my buddy Bradley are leaving out today to the N. GA mountains in the Chattahoochee Natl. Forest near the fish hatchery near Suches, GA for a couple of days of camping. i.e. large quantities of beer with a side of freshly caught trout if Bradley does any good and if not we're taking some steaks and brauts along. I don't have a fishing license or equipment so he'll have to do the fishing but he usually does pretty good. I'll do the cooking and setup camp. And yes, we will be packing firearms in case of bears deciding they want to fatten up for the coming winter months. It's still kind of early so we don't really expect any trouble.
Should be interesting on the beers. I haven't had an adult beverage of any kind in a week. A rare beer-drought for me.
We'll be back sometime Sat. afternoon.
Except for the trip to IL this summer and a chili cook-off I did in 2010 (3rd place out of several hundred - thank you very much), I haven't been anywhere just for fun in about 15 years. In fact, I can't tell you the last place I've been other than that. Perhaps the NE GA mountains with that "pretty hippy blonde girl [ex-wife]", as Uncle Jim calls her, looking to buy some property. The trip to IL wasn't exactly meant to be a vacation of sorts but much thanks to the Uncles Palmer, we (at least I did) had an absolute blast.
Should be fun. Weather is looking good until late Sat. but we'll be gone by then.
I'm all packed up and waiting on him at this point.
NOTE TO SELF: Remember to do the dishes and empty the dirty dish water this time!! I left a sink full when I was in IL. Almost 3 weeks with dirty dishes sitting in dirty dish water made for some nasty stuff to come home to!!!
Catch you all later.
Wishing all the Beerleggers in St.L and S. IL a good time. When you all meet in Effingham, you will be very near where myself and most all my kin hale from. Unless you enjoy corn, soybean fields and monster grain elevators, you won't get much scenery.
Hopefully, when we get back, my Braves will have clinched the NL East title!!
Best of luck to the Cards as well. Having grown up in Cards country and a die-hard [until moving to the South] I'll always be a Redbird fan at heart.
E.
Edit/PS: I should mention we have been trying to make a camping trip happen for almost 3 years.
