Not P&R, yes GW was a president, but I am not arguing his politics.
George Washington has been named Britain's greatest ever foe, according to the UK's National Army Museum. Washington was named ahead of Michael Collins, who led Ireland to independence from the UK; France's Napoleon Bonaparte; Erwin Rommel, the German World War II commander; and Turkish World War I leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk
Way to go George.

He was our greatest president.
....and to think that he was a native son of old Britannia. What a scoundrel!;-)

Of all the people on that list George is the only one that had an outright victory. Ireland is still trying to gain complete sovereignty.

"We beat them in the cities and we whipped them in the streets
And the world hailed Michael Collins, our commander and our chief
And they sent you off to London to negotiate a deal
And to gain us a republic, united, boys, and real
But the women and the drink, Mick, they must have got to you
'Cause you came back with a country divided up in two
We had to turn against you, Mick, there was nothin' we could do
'Cause we couldn't betray the republic like Arthur Griffith and you
We fought against each other, two brothers steeped in blood
But I never doubted that your heart was broken in the flood
And though we had to shoot you down in golden Béal na Blath
I always knew that Ireland lost her greatest son of all."

George Washington's greatest achievement was holding the Continental Army together in the face of inadequate support from Congress and many other problems and defeats.
What he achieved is pretty much unique in history.
Given the period in time and the events therein, I would venture to guess he would be proud to wear that moniker. It certainly would not have hurt my feelings. Going back in my family records there is a 4th or 5th great grandpa of mine that was supposedly a Lt. Col. in the American army under Washington.
