Filled up for 1.95/9 this morning. Five days earlier it was 2.14/9. I'd love to see that rate of decrease continue for a couple more weeks or so.
The handy link in gshrock's post in the earlier thread is dead on for the stations I have driven past today. Of course, not every station is listed. Some look to be 20 or 25 cents higher than most. Those are die-hard old-style stations where they pump the gas and wash your windshield. They don't want everyone's business, just those who appreciate what they do.
"die-hard old-style stations where they pump the gas and wash your windshield."
We don't have any of those that I'm aware of.
As far as the price of fuel. I think there is a potential big downside to all this. The United States was well on the path to energy independence, certainly not from anything the government did, but because of the profit potential and an aggressive bunch of independent oil and gas producers. These lower fuel prices over a long period threaten that, they are already cutting back on the drilling, a bunch of loans to the industry are about to go bad. So we will be back to sending our fuel dollars to countries that hate us and use much of the profits to try and harm us. Then we end up paying part of our fuel bills with young American blood. I would rather keep paying the price to American (local) producers and know that the fuel we need will be available and not necessarily at the cost of defending our enemies that produce it.
