Got up this morning, forgot to plug the truck in last night as well as leaving the dome light on.....no start. Put charger on it, waited a bit, turned charger to boost, still nothing (diesel @ 0 def F). tried several more times, decided to dig the car out of 2' of snow. Dead battery! Dang! Put 2nd charger on the car, got it started. Backed out, flat tire. Fixed tire, left truck on charger for the day and went to the office. Turned computer on and got this message "Unable to start windows, standby while the problem is checked out" (or along those lines) 3 hours later, computer is back. Oh, wait...IT dude changed a router out yesterday and disabled the wireless, can't get on the server! 🙁 Finally started getting some work done around noon. Shoulda stayed in bed!;-)

Hawaii! HAH!! Off to Nome Monday, some as-built work for water and sewer....been -30 to -40 all week. Might get to observe the fuel offload from the Russian tanker, the Renda. Wouldn't know what to do in warm weather! 😀

Funny story here...
When I was in Hawaii last Feb, snorkeling and just floating around, enjoying the warm water....I came up close to the shore to relax while still staying in the water. These two girls come up, stick their foot in the water, and start doing the "Oohh its SO COLD, oh my God!! Oh oh oh oh crap we're freezing!" routine... I told them just hop in, ya warm right up. (The water was about 80º). It must have taken them 15 minutes to get into the damn water! I said "You girls must be from Arizona...and not climatized." They said "Nope, we just got here from ALASKA." :-O 😛
I gave them some friendly ribbing about living in below zero, that this weather should be a heat wave to them. They themselves could not figure out why it felt so cold.
I ran into them later at the Ala Moana mall and they were all running around in shorts, tank tops, and flip flops. I said "Climatized now, eh?!" and smiled. They giggled. 😉
Not many people know this, but Alaskan's don't tan, we melt! Right now it would be difficult to do a polar bear swim, the ice is 4' thick!:-(
They should be starting pumping this weekend, assuming they got within a mile of Nome. Hopefully closer, lots of chances of leaks in a mile of hose!

Remember that day because we had a semester final in history that day. The ol' Friday the 13th jinx seemed to doom any good results. Instead, I got a perfect score of 100 plus six points of extra credit that was possible to help raise the average score. Decided then and there to not worry about Friday the 13th anymore.

Me either. I consider #9 and #13 VERY lucky & sacred #'s...course that's cause I was born on Sept. 13th!! And anytime it happens on a Friday, that's even luckier. Now let's see if my lottery ticket purchased yesterday, hits the big one today. 😉

The old cartoon strip Pogo (1948-1975) had a running thing about Friday the 13th. One of the characters would say things like "Friday the 13th fell on a Wednesday this month" and "When Friday the 13th falls on a Friday it's double bad luck."
