Well tonight I had an interesting follow up to my post below. My brother told me to meet him out at the property. I arrived at the gate as usual and opened the combination lock. Two things happened at the same time.

.my brother drove around into view along our access driveway about 300 yards away

I dropped the gate chain and looked down to see this approx. 4-1/2" from my feet

.
Needless to say I jumped about 1 meter to the east!
He honked his horn and I realized the snake was missing a head and some rattles.
We met up and he admitted that someone had left the dead snake in the county road near our gate.
He thought it would be funny to leave it by the gate, which it was not. We left it for my dad to find;)
Shows how poorly we watch our step.
I left out the part where he laughed his a$$ off all the to my truck. Nice joke.
Would have been EMT and deadwagon time for me.
