One thing the English do well is comedy.
If it weren't for the English you would all be Spanish. This song is bound to offend practically everyone:

I Don't Know, Dave
I'm not saying they're not funny, but they kind of stretch the limits of droll-ness. My favorite movie of all time is Monty Python & The Holy Grail, but their TV show wasn't all that funny to me. My wife doesn't get English humor at all. Fawlty Towers cracked me up, her not so much.
All the English-speaking countries have some pretty funny comedians, if you ask me. There are lots of US comedians, obviously that are great, and it kind of surprises me how many great comics come out of Canada, because, no offense, the Canadians I have known haven't been that humor-oriented. Are there Australian comedians that I can't think of right now? South Africans? I'm sure there are.

That's cool, maybe you would like Tom Lehrer:

Humor is usually based in reality. If the reality is not familiar to you then you probably wouldn't find the humor funny.
Basil Fawlty was based on a real rude innkeeper the Pythons experienced on the road.
Who Are These Weird People?
And how did I not know they existed.

PS-
In Canada we surveyors have to appreciate humo(u)r, considering what we find that has gone before us at times !
