A couple of pictures from our vacation so far down here in New Smyrna Beach, Fl. The boys and I went a few miles offshore on a fishing trip. We only caught five(small mess) baaarrreeely legal bass, but had a great time. The other picture is of a couple of porpoise that came up to the boat for a visit. It's amazing how clear the water is away from the beach

Good stuff! I took my wife fishing in a private pond on Sunday. She loves to fish and this time she even baited her own hook. 😉 We caught about a dozen good size bream and red-breast. She's ready to go again...
Nice pics Phillip...those small blackfish make a fine live-bait for king mackeral when slow trolled or drifting with a balloon rig.:-)
I lived in the San Juan Islands for 15 years. Technique for BIG ling cod. Live bait not allowed. Hook up a herring on a mooching rid with 3 foot leader off a 6 oz weight. Drop to bottom then crank up just off bottom and mooch until a 3 to 5lb rockfish grabs it and hook him. Crank up another few feet so he runs around in a panic just above bottom. Wait until a ling big enough to swallow a 5lb prey grabs him. You will know this when it feels like you hooked a truck tire. Though not hooked, the reptilian mind of a ling will not allow him to let go. You can then take your time just pumping him up from the bottom. Have the net ready. If he hits his head on the side of the boat or the net man makes a bad stab, he might let go. Not to worry, just let the lure back down and 90% of the time the ling will come back and grab him again. You can play with them all day like this. Landed quite a few sea monsters this way.

BEAUTIFUL!!!
