Today Wendell and I made our monthly trek up to OHSU Hospital & then to Downtown Portland. I know you guys appreciate the older built architectural buildings so I snapped some pics for ya along with the Willamette river, and a few other "weird" things we discovered. 😉
Enjoy!!
View from OHSU hospital building.
One of the older original OHSU buildings. Still in use today!
Green Ivy growing up one of the older original hospital buildings.
Willamette River. View is from walking path in downtown Portland. This bridge is for trains only.
A natural spring fed pond in the Pearl District. It's full of goldfish and mosquito eater fish.
View of Downtown Portland from the back of Union Station.
Here's that same pink skyscraper at dusk.
One of many of the Downtown Portland fountains. Kids and adults alike love cooling off in them. Portland is very good about letting their fountains be used for this AND for keeping them sparkling clean and sanitary.
Some of the beautiful original older buildings.
Federal Building.
Self explanatory sign painted on side of building.
Line for Voodoo Doughnuts. We've been wondering what all the "hype" was regarding these famous doughnuts and so we finally waited in line to get a dozen.
Sign outside of Voodoo Doughnuts.
Bumper stickers on wall inside of Voodoo Doughnuts.
ATM inside of Voodoo Doughnuts. Amazing this ATM still works!!
Wendell liked this odd shaped chandelier.
The "infamous" and rather tasty doughnuts!!
Apparently we had just missed Weird Al Yankovic. He was at Voodoo right before we got there. Maybe next time... 🙂

Nice pictures of "New" Portland. You gave me some good ideas for a series on "Old" Portland. I am always interested in the type of camera used, settings, and whether or not any after picture software was used to enhance the photos?
Hi Angel,
Please tell me those are not Lifesavers on that donut! Ouch.
You missed the World's Smallest Park along Front Street/Naito Blvd. You might not want to linger long though wandering through it's leafy glades - it's in the middle of one of the major thoroughfares into and out of downtown Portland and only about 3 square feet in area.

Say Hi to Wendell for me when he wakes up. "Youse guys" have put together a First Class forum here. Thanks.
Tyler
I believe those are Fruit Loops along with M&M's, Cocoa Puffs, Sprinkles and a variety of other sweets.
Nice pics Noodles, thanks for sharing 'em.
Hi Merlin!
Yea I'd love to see the other "Portland" someday. After all, that is why my Portland has it's name. 🙂
The camera I used for those pics is my Droid cell phone. I didn't alter them in any way; I cant with the droid. At least I don't think I can. I am not sure what setting I used. Whatever the "auto" one is. I wish it had a ZOOM on it but other than that it takes pretty awesome photos! :good:
Noodles, one more question.
Did you get up early today or did you stay up real late last night?:-)
Hi Ty!
Hey you were reading our mind. We were headed to that park to show the girls but we got sidetracked and then stuck in the Voodoo line. I also wanted to go to the Lovejoy fountain. Ahh well, we'll be back up there again at the end of the month so we can try it again.
Heh those are fruit loops!! That place...man...One lady walked out with a "penis" doughnut. they make some freaky doughnuts there.
I'll slap Wendell for you when he gets up. Just kidding...:-)
Hey Billy, you are right! Those are cereals and sprinkles and some other goodies mixed in. We just got the "Voodoo special" and that's what they gave us. Next time we're going to order a la carte. Wendell wants the maple bacon bar. Yeck. :-S I'll stick with normal doughnuts. 🙂
Thanks for the compliments, guys, You're the best. :good:
Noodles, one more question.
> Did you get up early today or did you stay up real late last night?:-)
Me?? Stay Up all night? *I* never do that!! 😉
Actually I got up early (for me) yesterday. Wendell hates it if we leave too late and hit traffic and plus I have to get up there to the hospital before their pharmacy closes so...I managed to drag my butt out of bed before noon. (You should of heard his commnents!!)
The chemo side effects make it hard for me to sleep 24-48 hours after the injection so...I just stay up and try to be productive. After that time frame exhaustion kicks in and nausea leaves and I can finally sleep. That is unless the neighbors skipperkeedee dog decides to bark for 5 hours straight!!! :-@
Thanks for sharing, enjoyed it.
The fountains looks very good done, and a nice place to take a rest on a hot day!
chr.
Yup, great pics! the donuts look like what my kids would conjure up if left in charge of a donut factory. Also, they LOVE to play in a public fountain in our immediate downtown...which also has signs that state "Do not allow children to play in the fountain" yeah, bad parent here...;-)
