Best defense a guy has is his brain.

A gun is a poor substitute.

Well, then rat shot it is. For 9mm and .45 ACP, it's not called rat shot, and actually, I have been in a pack of coyotes once and REALLY wished that I had a shotgun or at least the pistol with the shot rather than the 30.06 I had in my hand, but something is better than nothing.

If you think the advice won't work, then by all means, don't apply it. I will however, continue to carry a large pistol with rat shot as my first round out of the pipe.

"black plastic"

> I have a friend that has the S&W 40 Cal.? (Prior to the M&P). ... However it has a horrendous trigger pull that causes him to shoot 6" low every time.

The S&W 40 that I have causes me the same issues of shooting low. The trigger pull is insane.

The polar opposite of the S&W I have, my XD is a joy to shoot and is very accurate. The XD comes in many barrel lengths. Mine is the 45 cal with the tactical (5") barrel. The service model is a 4" barrel.

Supposedly it can be overcome by modifying your grip on the gun. However, you shouldn't have to change your shooting style to appease a cruddy design.
