with your car? Saw a response, but not your original post, on Facebook. Did you get rid of the Thunder Chicken? And replace it with a red something or other? Inquiring (nosey) minds want to know.

Nopie, nopie. I sold the red 944 Porsche. It was just a picture of it. I am missing it a bit but I am not going to get rid of the bird. It's in the shop. Six COP (coil over plugs) went out because of faulty (ford defect) valve cover gaskets. All under warranty and you might want to google it in case you ever have this problem. It's not a recall but Ford extended the warranty for 10 years or 100,000 miles because of this problem.

Not all Ford dealers are aware of the notice (mine wasn't) but I managed to convince them and there will be no charge for the repairs. Heat warps the valve covers where the seals allow oil onto the plugs which foul them and ruin the coils also. It would have been about a $2000 repair had it not been covered.

They are supposed to have it fixed today so that I can head out on a road trip in the morning.

Yes, I went through this a couple of years ago and you're right about the cost. I guess I need to call my dealer and see if I can get some retroactive coverage.

Darn. I only found out about it because it was just missing a bit and I figured it was a COP. I googled to see if it was something I could fix myself and then found all the links to the problem. I'm glad I did.

It's always a good idea to google your vehicle before doing any 'dealer' repairs. We found a recall notice for Pat May a few years ago that saved her a lot of money. Her dealer did not know about the recall. ???? Her vehicle was an Expedition and I believe that is a Ford also. Maybe they have some communication issues between FMC and their dealer network.

On the good side of things I found little else that people were complaining about with the T-Birds reissue.
