Congrats to the Pokes.
They finally got that monkey off their back.
That QB played a spectacular game. He is my pick for Big 12 player of the year and Hunter ran the ball like a crazy man.
If they keep it up, the Big 12 championship is all but theirs.
I still love my horns, but it is getting harder and harder to watch them implode.
Go Pokes!!!
Randy
Thanks Randy. I know that this year has been a tough pill to swallow for a true Horns fan so I will in no way gloat over this win. Our first win in Austin since 1944.
Many will say that Texas is just not that good this year but their stats before this game placed them second in the nation in pass defense only giving up 132 yards per game. Weeden picked up 409 yards against that defense which I think really shows just how good our offense is at this point in the season.
My Pokes defense is improving game by game and that is what you want to see this late in the season. I know that Texas has struggled on offense but holding them to only 16 points is still a plus for the Pokes defense.
At 4-6 then Texas has to win out to become bowl eligible. And one of those games is against the much improving Texas A&M which is always a tough game no matter the rankings. I hope Texas does not set a precedent by being the first team ever to play for a NC one year then failing to make a bowl the next year. Mac needs to plug the holes and stop the sinking ship. I really cannot put a finger on why, with all that talent, they have struggled so much this year. If I had to guess then I'd say it's the front line on both D and O. When you lose the battle in the trenches then you are not going to have success farther down the field.
And for my Pokes, who almost everyone at the start of the year predicted them to finish in the bottom half of the Big 12 South, then I'm still quietly optimistic. We have Kansas and OU left to play before declaring ourselves south champions. Kansas is a danger if we overlook them and start thinking about the OU game. Gundy will hopefully keep our guys focused and I think our overwhelming offensive firepower will gun them down.
It was a good sign when Gundy did not have the team take a knee to go to the half but instead kept attacking. While only a field goal then it was still a sign that OSU is finally out looking for blood for all four quarters.
9-1 now and who would have thought that at the start of the year. I suppose we are at least the Texas champions this year since we defeated Texas A&M, TT, Baylor and now Texas. I wish we had TCU on the schedule to make it unanimous.
I WILL be going to the OU/OSU game.
