i had a few fillings that i needed to have filled, one small one not so small.

first one wasnt numb, he hadnt injected close enough to the nerve.

i decided to ride it out, like my parents and everyone else whom never had the pleasure of novacaine.

wow. blinding white pain like electrical shocks. i practiced my zen detachment and just looked beyond.

at the end of the first one, Doc asked, "how you doing?"

i say " wow, its amazing how fast the pain subsides then comes on again between drilling attacks."

he was mortified, and asked why would i do that and not tell him i wasnt numb.

i explained my curiosity, and then after the second bigger filling, my mouth was numb for about 6 hours.

go figure.
