It is time to replace the old, squarish CRT monitor with an LCD Flat Screen.

The choices seem overwhelming; Acer, Asus, LG, Samsung, to name a few. Then there are the options; resolution, size, and so on....

What do you experts recommend?

Thanks in advance,

KS

I love my Samsung! Go big or go home! Get two and go "split screen" with the extra video card. Descriptions, calcs, email on one and CAD on the other.

When my Gateway monitor died after 3 years and one week (3 yr warranty) I picked up a 21" monitor from Staples. Included four USB ports and integral speakers. Works good with a low cost.

Our standard CADD Workstation has 2 24" LCD Monitors. We use Microstation so you can have up to 8 views opened on 2 screens. I like to zoom in some on the left screen, then really soom in close on the right screen and only use 2 views. If I am drawing long lines, I will open 2 views on the right screen and zoom on close to an end point in each view.

Dell is my preference for monitors.

Using a dual 24in wide screen setup on an XP and a 17in square screen on Win98.

Connected the HDMI slot on one 24in wide screen for HDTV.

I've got a 21" ACER that I've used for about 4 or 5 years and it has good resolution and color. Works good with my Cadd program. No problems with it so far. They are about $100 or so cheaper now than when I purchased it.

OK, if you are JUST NOW getting into flat screens, you are late. You have lost money, by waiting. They are great.
I got a samsung, 24" and only wish I had 2 or 3 of them, on the SAME computer.

Get two flat-screen monitors. They can be big, everything else, but once you have two, you will wonder how you ever dealt with only one. I would rather have two square monitors than one larger, wide-screen monitor. (but of course two wide-screens would even be nicer).

Computer Monitor - Advice Needed - too late

Thanks for the replies.

I went with an Asus VH236H 23" from Tigerdirect; $165 plus shipping.
