What is it that too many people smoke or drink there?

Spent time there from Friday evening to Sunday noon. At the corner of Canyon Blvd. and Broadway saw a scruffy fellow holding up a cardboard sign encouraging us to donate to him because it was his 33rd birthday (It had to be...he added, "Yes, it really is." to the bottom of the sign." I suggested to him that he get with his buddies on two of the adjacent corners with similar begging signs and take the day off. Then, a few hours later, a jogger (Well, maybe he was jogging.) comes running out into the road in front of me wearing nothing but a pair of Hanes powder blue briefs with a white waistband. There were fools riding bicycles (for fun!!!!!!!!) all over the place on the second day in a row of record breaking heat (1874 was a loooooooong time ago, BTW). Three houses to the east of where we were going we saw a mother and her teenage son put a portable ping pong table into our driving lane and proceed to hose it down and scrub it thoroughly (I really didn't want to know how it got so soiled.). One of the relatives arriving for the family gathering had exited a tollway without paying by accident. This led to advice from numerous locals advising what to do and why you should do it immediately if not sooner, as the late charges escalate exponentially, all despite the fact that they have set up such a crappy exit system that a signifcant percentage of out-of-towners end up doing this same thing every day. As we drove along the stream adjacent to Canyon Blvd. on Saturday evening we witnessed many hundreds of people frolicking in and near it in all states of attire, or lack thereof, with some obviously applying shampoo and washing their hair. (So much for that pure Rocky Mountain spring water used to make Coors beer.)

Boulder always had the rep of being the "Berkeley" of the Rockies.
I remember being there for a few days a long time ago and it was a very 'freewhellin" scene.

A few weeks ago, we had an old riend in town from Nashville and we went to see some music and pass a good time at the Tomatoe/Cajun/Zydeco Fest in the French Quarter at the French Marketwith lunch at the Napoleon House for the atmosphere.

While watching and listening to Rosie Ledet at the Old Mint, we were treated to the unanniounced arrival of the 4th World Naked Bike RIDE down Decatur Street. I let swmbo explain to our 9 yr old what was going on. 😉
