Perry has the solution
Don't own a vehicle that does that. Works for me. Besides, it is very rare that the keys come out of the ignition switch. Sometimes weeks at a time. For the most part, no one really wants to get embarrassed by being caught stealing such a vehicle.
The ones that annoy me are other people's cars doing all that foolishness. Walked out of the movie theater a few days ago and thought a backhoe or trash truck was backing up. It was just another fellow backing out of his parking space in his SUV. Not a company-type vehicle where that might be a nice feature.
To me, it's kind of insulting
when someone visiting my house feels the need to lock their car when parked in my driveway.

Perry,
That is not aimed at you. It is at the other people out there.
If it were me, it would be habit and the fact that I don't want anyone to get hurt by some of the things I habitually carry in my truck.

When pulling out onto a road, where you are blinded by buildings or other obstacles from seeing if cars are coming, (whether backing out or going forward) I think it is a good idea to honk or other wise make noise indicating that you are pulling out. I could just imagine coming out of an alley in the city (where you can't see past the buildings right next to you) and hitting a kid on a bike or a skateboard for instance.
Other than making noise when backing out to a blind area, I agree with the fact that cars are getting way to noisy these days.
It makes for a good practical joke.
My BIL bought an new Odyssey, maybe 2005 or so, and it had the panic button on the fob.
So when he brought it home,he planned that anytime his wife was in close proximity to the car that he would set it off from inside the house. They had a big bay window that one could see the car parked from inside. She had no clue to about the panic button was or what it did..
He had a lot of fun 'driving her' to the brink. We went over to see the new van and his wife was gong to take my wife for a drive and he did it. He told me to stay inside and watch. It was pretty funny to see her panic and the mischievious look in his eyes.
