Tough choice. Seems the ESPN folks are about split on this with both teams undefeated and the game at Auburn.

My gut says Auburn but LSU has a solid team and have found a way to win even with some foopahs by the coaches in waning minutes.

LSU does not belong in the Top 10 in any poll.
but if their D can hang with Auburn then it will be an interesting game.

Current spread is give LSU 6

but who knows what "The Hat" will be thinking....

Do you think he has any rabbits left to pull out of his hat? He was a gambler at OSU and is a gambler at LSU but you can only take so many risks before they start biting you when you play as good as team as Auburn.

Alice

The Hatter explains to Alice that he and the March Hare are always having tea because, when he tried to sing for the Queen of Hearts at her celebration, she sentenced him to death for "murdering the time,"

He is not pulling rabbits out of his hat. He is talking to the White Rabbit on the sideline

LSU has talent and some talent that has not lived up to their potential ths year.
The OC has been a disaster. It has not been all the Hat's fault. Some times he is just a bystander in the madness. IMO.
He has made some ballsy moves on player personnel here but was sort of forced into it.

A lot of good coaches are great motivators. Motivation will get LSU an upset in this game, plain and simple not the X&Os

I would never call it a rabbit that he is pulling out of his hat. He appears to be grasping at straws.

If not for player talent on the field, I believe he would have been selling cars a long time ago.

I will pick LSU most of the time because good players want to go there and many, many good players are there. They alone sometimes win just because they put that much of themselves into their game.

They play for a win today and every day they play. It is the spirit of LSU. You can never count them down until its all over.

This years Auburn team is like that in many ways.

Gonna be a good game to watch.

I'm split on this one, if in Deaf Valley I'd say LSU by 7.

If Auburn and Newton can play like they did in the last half against Arkansas, they could win. If they play like they did against South Carolina, it could be a long day for us War Eagle fans.

I'll disagree just a bit Muddy. I think motivation is certainly important but I think the college teams schemes are getting almost as complex as the pro's so the X and O's are very important.

Raw talent is not enough now days in the top levels of play with all the complexities of the defenses and offenses. It takes a great amount of off the field study to run or be a part of the current schemes. And kids still have to attend classes and study for other exams.

So the coaches are a lot more important now days as teachers and not just motivators.

I think this one comes down to who makes the least mistakes as do most really big ball games.

I would not let either teams ball handlers eat bread with butter on it the morning of game day. 🙂

I read a lot of technical coaching stuff.
Just finished reading an article on player motivation by a German professional sports psychologist in a German soccer mag.
It is very hard to motivate players if one does not have the right people skills and other communication attributes.

The two best motivational coaches that I ever witnessed were Dale Brown , LSU basketball and Lou Holtz in football. They could motivate players to play their potential and beyond. It is a skill that is priceless that brought them a lot of success and their players too.

Gotta love the fact that 5 of the 6 SEC West teams are in the top 25.

I think LSU is going to come up short against Auburn, wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Auburn run the table (including the Iron Bowl) and wind up National Champs with Cam as Heisman to boot.

As a long term Auburn fan dating back to the days of Shug, every time we get our hopes up, reality intercedes. I see us losing the Iron Bowl, and dropping out of the top ten just because, well, we are Auburn.

P.L.,
I couldn't agree more. Neither LSU or Auburn will be undefeated after they play Alabama.

Could happen, no doubt.

Then again, a week to rest, then LSU in Deaf Valley, then no time off all the way to the Iron Bowl (although you will have home field advantage for all of them) is a pretty grueling schedule.
