Texas Who ?

Texas @ 3-2 is out of the running for a few weeks. Look for them again in 2-3 weeks.

# 18 USC lost @ 4-1 gone.
# 21 Texas lost @ 3-2 gone.
# 22 Penn State lost, @ 3-2 gone.
# 23 NC State lost, @ 4-1 gone.

# 22 Oklahoma State @ 4-0 expected.
# 23 Florida State @ 4-1 expected.
# 24 Missouri @ 4-0 expected
# 25 Air Force @ 4-1 surprise, 3 in top 25 from Mountain West.

More of a surprise that 5-0 Northwestern did not get in. Probably a prejudice against 6 Big Ten teams but 6 SEC is OK.

Nebraska's schedule will end up hurting them when the BCS rankings come into play. I think the order is beginning to correct itself with Oregon squeezing past Boise St. which I believe is deserved.

I don't agree on your assessment of Nebraska. They now have two ranked teams to play with Okie State and Missouri. If both of them continue to rise then that will help Nebraska if they should win those games which is anything but certain.

Their greatest danger comes this weekend when they travel to K-State. K-State is just starting to show up on the radar but I've said all year that they were a lot better team than the polling shows. Nebraska finally found an offense this year but I could see an upset happening.

The preseason polls are strange though. It takes two losses to move Texas out of the polls but teams with no losses are just now seeing the bottom of the ladder. There are a bunch of one loss teams still in the top 20 while some with one loss have dropped out of the running. Unless you start near the top then it's just almost impossible to get there even if you are undefeated.

If we wind up with a bunch of zero loss teams then this year will be just like the rest when it comes down to picking the teams for the NC game.

In the end, Alabama will probably win out and repeat.

I was referring to the Oregon Ducks, who are currently No. 3.

The Beavers will likely be back on the list before the season is over. They have 2 losses, to #4 Boise State and #5 TCU, and they weren't blown out of either game.
