I am a novice at this stuff, so bear with me.
How can I lock the google earth view to that its an ortho view (straight down) not oblique. I keep having to fiddle with it to get the desired view.
Surveyor yes, button pusher no.

OK, I'm suddenly aware that I'm about to tell you how to do this on a Mac. There's a Windows analog, doubtless. In Preferences, click the Navigation tab, and then find the choice "Automatically tilt while zooming," and uncheck it. Or check where it says not to do that.

I'll look at my Windows copy for a few minutes.
Cheers,
Henry

In the Windows version, click Tools, then Options, then Navigation, then the radio button for "Do not automatically tilt while zooming."

A quick reset to ortho is also available from the View menu: Reset, Tilt.

In addition to unclicking the "tilt while zooming", if you ever find yourself at an angle (like when you leave street view), you can return to a straight down view by pressing the "R" key.
